TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY

So in the afternoon today i went to Raekwons hotel to hear his new album Only build for cuban linx Pt2!!! The chef came through, and the album is Fiyaaaah!!! BAD NEWS - Adam Yauch has cancer, Beastie Boys cancel tour

‘Adam"MCA" Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. Luckily it was caught early and is localized in one area, and as such is considered very treatable. It will however require surgery and several weeks of additional treatment. Fortunately the cancer is not in a location that will affect Yauch's vocal chords. Beastie Boys have canceled all upcoming concert appearances to allow time for Yauch's surgery and recovery. The release of the band's forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 will also be pushed back.

"I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."’

MY WEEKEND-NORWAY - BELGIUM - FRANCE

Another hectic weekend, 3 countries in 3 days. I love doing festivals, no sleep but so much fun. Norway was the first spot which was alongside The Streets. Just before the festival, the promoters took us to a island for lunch on a speed boat. Theres me holding on with one hand, and camera in the other hand. Nearly went over board real talk. Check out the footage below.

The gig was really good and the crowd were crazy...people in Norway drink ALOT. After a few hours sleep we took a 2 hour drive back to Oslo airport then to Brussels for another 2 hour drive and another festival. Dour festival in Belgium was probably the best festival so far this year. HUUUUGE tent, Black Milk was on before us and tour it down. Apparently he and his wholle camp were ill with food posioning...dont think they were feeling the backstage catering. We tore it down...the energy in there was crazy. I went backstage to eat some more food and bumped into Eric Sermon, who still looks mad young. Next was a 2 hour drive to Lille in France then to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

DJ MK - LAST WEEKEND IN SERBIA, GERMANY AND....KENT

Me and Rodney hit the road again to do The Exit festival in Serbia, a festival on a farm in Kent i cant remember the name of, and the Splash Festival in Germany. Exit festival was amzing. We were on the main stage after Lily Allen and before The Artic Monkeys, and the 25,000 crowd were losing there mind. The festival on the farm was kool, but damn there were toooo many kids off there face, looking like they were gonna OD any minute.

Got a chance to see me homeboy Rodney P perform alongside The Stanton Warriors who tore it down. We then drove from Kent to a hotel beside treminal 5, and i managed to get in 4 hours sleep. Up early, we headed over to Terminal 5 and just about got on our plane to Berlin. Then from Berlin we had a 2 hour drive to the Splash Festival in Leipzeig. Staying in the same hotel as us was Toddla T, Serocee, Vadim, Yarah Bravo, Rusco, and my homeboy Aaron La Crate from Nyc so it was kool hooking up with those guys.

The show was sick and the stage manager that night was one of the nicest people i ve ever met. 4 hours sleep again, then it was back to sunny London. Heres some Photos.

INDUSTRY RULE NUMBER4080 - Q-TIP WRITES A BOOK ON...THE INDUSTRY

Heres the press release.

Ballantine Books will publish Industry Rules by Q-Tip, world-renowned artist, producer, DJ, and lead MC of hip-hop’s legendary A Tribe Called Quest. It was announced by Libby McGuire, publisher of Ballantine Books. Assistant Editor Porscha Burke acquired North American rights for the group from Jay Mandel at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

Q-Tip was inspired to write Industry Rules as he acknowledged upcoming milestones in his personal life and professional career—most notably, 2010 marks the twentieth anniversary of A Tribe Called Quest’s first album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (Jive Records, 1990). The main idea for the book grew from a verse Q-Tip penned a year later, in the group’s critically acclaimed 1991 release The Low End Theory. In the song “Check the Rhime,” he raps, “Industry rule number 4080: record company people are shady.” The book will expand on the 4080th rule and include more of Q-Tip’s thoughts on the entertainment business, fashion, love, and morality.

Q-Tip says, “It was important to me to write a book because on the whole, I feel we could all be more literate, and as an artist, I’m always looking for ways to do something cool, different, and both light and introspective at the same time. With so many influences, like Duke Ellington’s writing, or the music played by radio DJs in the 70’s, or just what you see hanging out on Linden Blvd., there’s a lot to say, and I look forward to reaching a bunch of colorful dudes and gals with the project.” The book will include never-before-told stories about Q-Tip’s personal experiences, family life, celebrity friends, inspirations, and career.

Q-Tip (Kamaal ibn John Fareed), has been pushing the envelope of creativity and breaking new ground for personal and cultural expression since founding the group A Tribe Called Quest with his friends, Queens natives Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Before officially disbanding in 1998, the group recorded five studio albums for Jive Records, including People’s Instinctive Travels…(1990), The Low End Theory (1991), Midnight Marauders (1993), Beats, Rhymes, and Life (1996), and The Love Movement (1998). Q-Tip then went on to release Amplified (Arista Records, 1999) and the critically acclaimed album, The Renaissance (Universal Motown, 2008), and will soon release his long-awaited LP Kamaal the Abstract (Battery Records, 2009).

Grammy Award-nominated and beloved by music lovers of all types, Q-Tip will add Industry Rules, his latest element to the pop culture canon, in late 2010.

Kanye & Jeezy Jam Session in London

I was at this party when this went down. My footage of this was pretty wack due to bad lighting so hope this makes up for it. When this went down it was so funny seeing Kanye, Kid Cudi, and Hudson all around a grand piano, doing a live version of amazing, then Jeezy came in and did his verse. Jeezy sat in the corner all night with his shades on. Geeeeah.

WIRELESS AFTER PARTY- KANYE WEST- KID CUDI - YOUNG JEEZY - MR HUDSON

So after the show at Hyde park we went back to Kiss, waited for Sister nANCY to do her make up and then we were out. The after party was on the 30th floor of the Center Point builing and the view was breathtaking. This was defiantly the hottest, after party all year, and if your name wasn't down on the list you wernt getting in. I must have had about 30 texts from friends trying to get into this party but it wasnt happening..

A-cyde and Reg, kicked it off lovely. The club was plush with amazing views, but you had to take a lift to get there (which only held 10 people at a time. The drinks were following and before you new it the whole place was ram. Mr hudson, and Kanye West performed Paranoid live, which is my favorite joint off 808's and Heartbreaks, then Q-tip stepped up and SMASHED it on the decks, playing classic after classic. Then Kanye,Hudson, Kid Cudi, and Young Jeezy were all around a grand piano whilst doing Frank Sinatra style versions of there tunes, funny, but amazing to watch. Harry Love came on and smashed it, whilst Serena Williams was getting down to some Funky House courtesy of Scottie B. Check out the video footage and the pics of the night.

WIRELESS SUNDAY- HYDE PARK - Q-TIP & KANYE WEST

So yesterday i went to check out Wireless and do some bits for Kiss whilst i was there. Really it was all about 2 people. Q-tip and Kanye West. Q-tip stepped up and tore the place down. His set was really tight, full of energy, enthusiasm, and showmanship. You could blatantly tell that the crowd didnt really know who he was, but they were getting down none the less.

Then it was Kanye time. This was probably and i hate to say this, the weakest show i ve seen him do. For the glow in the dark tour, this set list would of been perfect, but for a hype festival with 25,000 people wanting to go crazy it didn't always work. Way too many ballads when he should of been getting it uptempo. At times people in the crowd (including myself) were just bored, but then he came back with Stronger, Gold digger and saved himself. Kanye s interaction with the crowd was disappointing too. He didn't really walk out of his own little stage within a stage area, and took himself way too seriously with 4 woman painted in gold worshiping him at his feet, and it was almost like watching someone doing an impersonation of what they thought a pop star was supposed to act like.....KANYE MADE UP FOR IT AT THE AFTER PARTY THO!!

DRAKE - BEST I EVER HAD VIDEO

Drake has just signed with Young Money and has one of the most antisipated albums coming out later this year. So why is everybody talking about this guy????
The reason why Drake is so popular to me is simply because he's good at what he does, and doesnt pretend to be anything else.
He's no Rakim, but dude can spit, and is one of the best new mc;s i ve heard in the last 18 months. Also good RNB has virtualy disappeared now, bar a handful of arists, so good to see Drake coming out with good Hip hop, as well as good RNB.

Check the new video for BEST I EVER HAD. Directed by Kanye. Great video.

FUNHOUSE-DJMK-HARRY LOVE - SPECIAL GUEST KLASHNEKOFF

If you don't know, THE FUNHOUSE is myself and Harry Loves TV Channel, where we broadcast every Monday to Thursday between 10pm and 1am. Its great as its totally interactive, with no censorship, with direct contact to our listeners.

If we feel like playing nothing but new Hip Hop we can do that. If we wanna play a hour of Soul music we can do that..the music policy is just good music. We ve been broadcasting for just over 3 weeks and the response has been Crazy. We ve had tens of thousands of people from all over the world from every Continent on the globe log in and show us love. 2 weeks ago we broadcasted from London and from Sofia in Bulgaria, with a interview with Roots Manuva. Last night was another special show.

Klashnekoff passed through and gave us the exclusive return interview!! Klashnekoff talked about his brand new album which he played me earlier on during the day. Believe me its amazing and when it drops its gonna be a big problem. Too many UK artists get the hype machine right, but then when there album drops its so so, and lacking in good music....when i say good music i mean the type of music that your gonna wanna listen to in 5 years time....not the type that your gonna listen to for a few weeks then never play again..

K-lash also spat some bars and spoke a lot of sense....WATCH THE INTERVIEW BELOW
