THE SOURCE STEP THEIR GAME UP

If the truth be told i haven't bought a copy of this magazine in about 5 years. Now the only magazines I'll actually pay money for are XXL and of course KING magazine.
It's a shame because as we all know the source used to be dope. Back in the day there was only 1 shop in the UK that's sold the Source, and that was the legendary Groove records. Slowly it spread to other record shops like Catch a groove, and Red records. At the time a guy called Ben Smith was the guy who wrote for them as well as sold there magazines for them and would have copies in a mini shopping trolley and wheel it round the west end. Arhhhh those were the days...
Cut a long story short, Benzino got envolved and the magazine turned from a must read to a must NEVER read again read.

For there 20th anniversary cover they got old Spike lee to photograph the god Nas for the cover...Seems like the Source is stepping it up, but isn't it a little to late?? Do any of you guys reading this still buy the Source....Let me know!!!!!

*INTERESTING MK FACT NO 1 -Spike Lee is THE only person in the world so far to REFUSE me a drop for my mixtape......Thanks spike

After Benzino got sacked I started reading it again.

It still sucked balls.

Shame, as it had potential to be a legendary magazine.....King Magazine is the shit though....

Remember Fatboss & Big Daddy mag? They were dope....

I still check the Source from time to time - ever since the staff switched up a couple of years back, they kinda got the mag' back on track.

Sure, it's not great, but it's better than it was for a while, and every few issues is worth a glance.

I'm still an avid Hip Hop magazine reader on the whole though, copping Wax Poetics and HHC every issue without fail, and doing my best to check the other rags when possible.

In terms of writing, since Benzino and Dave Mayes left it's far superior to XXL. They struggle for space though as the advertising is being used to plug that huge financial gap created by the Brand War.

No they arent stepping it up. All of these magazines are trash. Even WaxPoetics (which I love) fell off a little.
