OK lets take it back to 1987. Here's a documentary which i ve never seen before about the UK Hip Hop scene in 1987. Featuring Derek B, Faze 1, Overlord X amongst others. It's both interesting and funny to see how UK Mc's used to get down....I'm glad the trend of American accents disappeared. If your wondering who the dodgy guy in the hat and long hair is thats "Dangerous" Dave Pearce. He used to do a Hip Hop show on Nite fM, which was on Radio London which then turned to GLR and now is called BBC Radio London. He then went on to KISS FM and then over night started playing weird house music.
Overlord X was dope tho. Representing Hackney, his sickest tune was "14 Days in May", which was about the real life wrongful execution of American Edward Earl Johnston. Listen below....

Ahh man, the 80's had some dope UKHH...Gunshot were pretty cool too....
LOL @ "weird house music" though....
A lot of these dance music DJs used to spin Hip Hop back in the day... I swear someone told me about Pete Tong and Judge Jules, but they might well of just been playing New Romantic records... Also what was the Speedo cap wearing thing all about? that was wack! Didn't yungun drop a sick track several years ago talking about the history of london hip hop? could be mistaken... shed some light MK!
