Estelle Brits After Party

Last Wednesday Estelle had a Brits After party in Ladbroke Grove. Now industry Parties are normally wack, but this one was sick. Shout out to my homeboy J-rocc for posting this.
Its the month of Dilla, and listening back to his music it really does just seem to sound better and better. I was lucky enough to meet Dilla 3 times, the last time being the Montreux Jazz festival in 2005 with Roots Manuva. Performing at the Montreux Jazz festival is always legendary, and this time it truely was. It really was one of those perfect days... sun was Shining, Sound check went perfectly, catering was amazing, and the vibe was good. When we got to our dressing rooms we saw that our homeboy Ty from over here was performing, and next to his dressing room was Jay Dee, Madlib, J-rocc, and Peanut butter wolf. Throughout the day i bumped into all of them, and said whatsup. Madlib i had only met a month earlier for the 1st time and was mad mad cool. J-rocc, Wolf and Dilla, i met a bunch of times so it was good to see them again.

The Jaylib show was crazy. I remember Mos Def was on the bill as well, and at one point there was a mad jam session on stage. Picture this. Dilla and J-Rocc on the beat/mic, Mos Def and Roots Manuva on the mic, and Madlib on the Drums (as in actual drums).
I filmed it....i think i filmed it....im pretty sure i did. (Mental note find dilla footage) After the show everyone was drinking and smoking and the vibe was good. I Remember chatting to Dilla about the show and his new music amount other things. Dilla was one of those dudes who always smiled alot. And when he smiled you could tell it was genuine. The rest of the night was spent partying at the venue till the early hours. R.I.P. DILLA

I did this because i was too young to DJ in clubs and to be honest nobody else was doing it so i saw a gap in the market. NOEL CLARKE WINS BAFTA

Big Big Big shout out to my homeboy, Noel Clarke who just won a BAFTA for the Orange Newcomer Award at the British Film Awards! The BAFTA'S have to be one of the most prestigious awards in the country, one which every actor aspires for.

This is a big deal, and great news for Noel and for any aspiring film makers and actors. Truth be told, most actors who make it in the UK are from upper middle class backgrounds who go to stage school from the age of 12. Noel went to a normal comprehensive school in West London, and then i met him age 17 at St Charles College in Ladbroke Grove. Even back then at college i remember him saying to me that he wanted to do his thing as a actor, and now the dreams have most defiantly turned into a reality. Just shows what you can accomplish if you set your mind to it.

Bastard breaks was a series of breaks mix tapes that i did starting in 1999. The reason i did these breaks tapes was mainly because i was sick of hearing breaks mix tapes with the same ol same ol breaks on them, and i knew i had tons of breaks that hadn't really been heard before, so i got busy. I recorded this in 2002 i think and theres tons of dope ish on this from libraries, to rare bits, to UK breaks, and some bits you'd know...

Now in 2009 with people being able to download ten grands worth of dope breaks in 10 minutes things aint really the same....
